General Notices

  • The last day of term is next Friday 22 June. School will close at 11 am.
  • Parents and girls are reminded that teaching continues until the end of term and that important work will be covered next week. Please ensure that your daughter is at school every day.
  • Parent Portal: Please note that we have added some Terms and Conditions to the portal. You will be required to accept them the next time you login. Term 2 reports will be published to the portal at the end of the term. Please email info@rghs.org.za if you have difficulty logging in.
  • Bugs' Boutique is closed this Friday, 15 June as the school is closed. The last day of trade is Wednesday, 20 June.  The shop opens on Wednesday 18 July and will be open on Saturday 21 July from 9-11 am.
  • On Wednesday morning somebody driving a light coloured Mini Cooper threw a cup of coffee (contents and all) out of the driver’s side window as they approached the school’s exit gate.  We ask all parents to be mindful of their behaviour in the school grounds.
  • Senor Chef orders have arrived and can be collected from the Marketing Office from Monday after school.

News

Jiyoon Jeon and Shelby le Roux together with Mrs Cameron were invited to the UCT Mathematics Competition prize giving on Friday 8 June. Shelby came 4th in the Grade 8 section and Jiyoon was placed 7th in the Grade 11 section. They were both given a gold certificate, a Casio calculator and a special J5 mug. More than 150 schools took part and Rustenburg came 7th overall. Of the more than 7000 participants, 75 were from Rustenburg and they are all to be congratulated on their combined achievement.

  • Monday 18 June: Inter-House Netball and Hockey – 13h30-15h30 
  • Cross Country – practice of the Inter-House route for any interested girls – 15h30-16h15 
  • Thursday 21 June: Inter-House Cross Country – 12h00-13h15 (all girls)

Kaitlyn Doms in A4 who has been selected to participate in the Mediterranean Synchronized Swimming Cup in Sevilla Spain in July. Rustenburg wishes Kaitlyn a successful trip and hopes to hear plenty of good news on her return.

On Friday 9 June, Taylin Holland (Grade 8) played at the CTICC as a member of the Jazz Yard Academy’s Senior Band, for Sanlam’s 100th birthday and prize giving. Ian Smith and Taylin are featured in the song, Asso Kam. Above is a photo of Taylin performing with the band.

  • To celebrate Nelson Mandela’s 100th birthday this year Interact will be organizing 67 minutes of making sandwiches on Friday 22 June. Please remember to bring the following:
    • Grade 9-10: spreads
    • Grade 8,11,12: bread (please only bring this from Wednesday 20 June)
  • The girls traveling to the Transkei in the June holidays for the Isolomzi Residential Project will be hosting a Spur evening on the 19th of June. Please support them at the Rodeo Halaal Spur (opposite Cavendish) anytime between 6 and 9 pm.  We look forward to seeing you there!
