Dear Masterworks Members and Friends,

When attempting to find words to express the feeling of loss when a friend dies, I wish I could somehow be one of the great writers of the World. When I read columns written by gifted writers I always think, “Why can’t I have such skill in writing about the relationship that I’ve been so fortunate to have with that friend?” And now, writing about Debbi Maloid’s passing (complications following a stroke), I just want to reach out and find the right words. I know I’ll fall short.

I’ll fail because Deb touched each of us in so many different ways. In the few years I’ve been a part of The Tucson Masterworks Chorale I’ve learned how special Debbi was. She always approached our activities with a smile and an offer to help. Registration? She would offer to help and be one of the first to arrive. Might an alto need special help? Debbie would quickly come to her aid. If a mention was made of a budgetary shortfall, Debbi would find her checkbook. Debbi Maloid loved the Chorale and it’s going to be a different group without her. Her loss will be felt.

We’re going to take some steps to keep her spirt in front of us. In November we’ll dedicate our Fall Concert to Debbi. We also plan to list, in the Fall Concert Program, those who contribute to ‘The Debbi Maloid Endowment Gift’. You all have the opportunity to honor and remember Debbi with a gift to this Special Named Fund. Your name will be among those in the concert Program, unless you request otherwise. Just send your gift to our Chorale address; P.O. Box 41885, Tucson, AZ 85717 and make a note on your check of its purpose.

Peace,

John
