Racial Equity Here,
GARE's new, cross-sector platform to align efforts across the country launches today!

Racial Equity Here is a movement of jurisdictions, community groups, foundations, businesses and schools committed to three steps forward on racial equity: to LEARN, ACT, and PARTNER, with tools provided.

As of our launch today at 9:00 AM EST, more than 215 organizations, including many GARE Jurisdictions, have signed on in 21 states. We believe we can hit 500 this week — much more than a number, each marker on the map represents an organization committed to clear best practices to advance racial equity.

Here's what you can do today!

  1. sign your jurisdiction up if you haven't already (everything in the commitment is already part of your GARE work, so this should be quick and easy for you)
  2. Tweet & post about your commitment and the national movement on Facebook and Twitter. You can craft your own post using this starter content, or retweet Race Forward's posts:TwitterFacebook
  3. sharing the site by e-mail with racial equity-oriented organizations and partners in your community, and asking them to join you in the commitment. You can use core messaging from this document or reach out to ellen@provoc.me for help.

King County, Washington, Local Government Combines with Immigrant Advocacy Groups to Provide a National Model on Immigration Policy

After months of community organizing and advocacy, King County, Washington Council adopted a new Immigration Ordinance that protects the privacy and civil liberties for immigrant and refugee communities.  The Ordinance serves as a national model for counties to ensure that their limited resources are not being used to collaborate with an aggressive deportation agenda.
