Word to the Wise

This month, I would like to share a few thoughts about the importance of keeping your focus and eliminating the spirit of comparison.
In this age of social media, I know it can sometimes be difficult to stay focused on what God has assigned you to do. But, distractions and the desire to compare ourselves with others is something the enemy uses as a weapon to keep us from fulfilling our destinies.
The great life that God has planned for us does exist, but sometimes we can be our own greatest hindrance to getting to that life.
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

When we are being distracted from our purpose, we need to get our focus back and move forward into our destiny.
Philippians 3:13-14 NLT

We need to focus our efforts and energy on the assignment God has given each of us.
Joshua 1:7 NLT
Deuteronomy 5:32 NIV
Proverbs 4:27 NLT

If we stay focused and about the Father's business, we will not have the time to be worrying about what other people are doing.
Galatians 6:4 NLT

God has made each of us very special, unique and in a way that best suits His purpose for each of us. Appreciate what God has placed inside of you and use it to the best of your ability.
2 Corinthians 10:12 BSB

Knowing the voice of God

In this time moral relativism, it is more important than ever that we know the voice of God and we are able to be led by His Spirit. These are the last days and the standard of morality will continue to decline in the world. But this is the time for the body of Christ to shine. People in the world are surrounded by darkness and they need you to shine your light so that they have the opportunity to come into a relationship with God.
There are some principles that we need to remember regarding knowing the voice of God. So, this month, we are going to look at the book of 1 Samuel 3 and see some of the issues that Samuel and Eli dealt with regarding knowing God's voice.
1 Samuel 3:1-21

You have to know the voice of God for yourself. You cannot depend on others to know His voice for you.
1 Samuel 3:7-8
1 Samuel 3:19

If you know the Lord, you should know His voice.
John 10:3 NLT
John 10:4 NLT
John 10:14 CEV
John 10:16 NLT
John 10:27 BSB

When you are not in God's Kingdom, you don't know His voice and you are unable to hear it.
John 8:42-44
John 8:47 NET Bible
Acts 3:23 BSB
Deuteronomy 18:19 BSB

God will not allow His Word to fail.
Isaiah 55:11 GWT
Numbers 23:19 GWT

Turning away from God will cause a lack of hearing the Word of God. Without the Word of God, people will not know the voice of God.
Amos 8:11-12 BSB
Proverbs 29:18 NLT
Jeremiah 9:3 NLT
Romans 10:17 KJV
Mark 4:24 NLT

When you are not able to hear or receive the Word of God, you have been listening to another voice.
Genesis 3:8-13 BSB

There are consequences for not knowing and listening to the voice of God.
Deuteronomy 28:15 NHEB
Daniel 9:11 NLT
Malachi 2:2 NLT

Questions:

1. Do you trust hearing the voice of God for yourself or have you become people dependent?

2. Do you spend enough time in the Word of God to be able to recognize the voice of God?

3. Do you trust in God's Word?

4. Do you recognize the things taking place in the world are a result of people turning away from God?

5. What voices have you been listening to?

6. Have you ever ignored God's voice and paid the consequences for it?
