Yard Signs and Posters
Thanks to CPS, we have new yard signs and posters available. Placing yard signs helps to broaden the communication about the availability of this new public school opportunity in CUF, Spring Grove Village, and Clifton. The posters are 11 inches tall x 17 inches wide. Please click here to email your request, and someone will arrange to deliver a sign and/or a poster to you. Enrollment Update
On Friday, June 8, we learned from CPS that enough Kindergarten and 1st grade students have enrolled that an additional teacher must be hired. This is great news! We will have a Kindergarten and a 1st grade teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. CPS is preparing the 1st grade classroom at our temporary location, Rising Stars Academy on Vine. There is still some space in both classes so please continue to spread the news about CANS.
Volunteers Needed
We are seeking volunteers to provide information about the school at various community events throughout the summer. We are also working with CPS to distribute door hangers this summer, and we seek your help with this. Please email us with your interests in volunteering by clicking here.
Building up for next school year
We are actively working on things for the upcoming school year. The Contemporary Art Center has agreed to fully sponsor two field trips for the K & 1st grade classes next year. An additional person has volunteered to teach weekly Spanish lessons to the children so as to continue what started during 2018. UC School of Education has agreed to field trips for K & 1st grade to the UC Nature Playscape. There are other opportunities being explored, and if you have an idea please share it in person at one of our meetings or via email.
Rosetta Stone Opportunity
CPS offers free Rosetta Stone accounts to students via a grant that is funded through 2020. Please consider requesting access so as to continue your child's Spanish language learning that occurred during the second half of this past school year. Click here for all the details on this opportunity.
CANS Meetings - Online Calendar
The CANS Advisory Group now has an online calendar that you can view. It shows when all the various Committees have meetings as well as when the full Advisory Group is meeting. You are welcome to attend the full Advisory Group or any Committee meeting to learn about what is happening as well as seek out opportunities to get involved more. CANS Enrollment Continues
As we are a neighborhood school, enrollment remains open for PreK, KG, and 1st graders. PreK Enrollment must be completed in person at Rising Stars Academy on Vine, 2120 Vine Street, at the Early Childhood Education Office (co-located at the Vine Street building). Kindergarten and 1st Grade enrollment can be completed online or in person at the Early Childhood Education Office.

Check your boundaries: CANS is a neighborhood school serving the communities of Clifton Heights, University Heights, Fairview, Clifton, and Spring Grove Village. To find out if you live within the Clifton Area Neighborhood School boundaries use CPS’ Interactive Cropper Map System to find and view your School Assignment by School Name and Street Name.
If your child is already attending CANS as a K student, they do not need to take any enrollment action for 1st grade.
