Summer is officially here and Toronto’s Laneways are looking brighter than ever.  Read on for an update on our recent projects and laneway news.

Light Up the Laneways

This spring The Laneway Project launched Light Up the Laneways, a demonstration project that will set a precedent for the privately-led planning and implementation of laneway lighting in Toronto.  The project is bringing together local stakeholders from the development, business, and community sectors in a Toronto city-building first that will transform two sites in the Ossington and Bloordale neighbourhoods. Help support this project.
Danforth Village Laneway Revitalization

We’re working with the Danforth Village Residents' Association and other residents of Danforth Village to develop a master plan for the revitalization of this network of laneways. In another first for Toronto, we will be implementing a number of laneway improvements in Summer 2018 using Section 37 public realm funds from an adjacent condo development.
City Council Votes Yes to Laneway Suites

Toronto East York Community Council and more recently the full City Council voted yes to amend the City's Official Plan and Zoning By-Law to allow laneway suites in Toronto and East York! Check out the full decision history here.  We're thrilled to see the City move forward with this important initiative which will not only add much needed gentle density to our neighborhoods, but also support the improvement of laneways as part of the public realm.
