What’s better than a glass of red and a cosy fire? Kelly and Fil from Barrecas Wines (pictured above) would say nothing…and we would agree.
Barrecas Winery in Donnybrook, is one of our favourites. Family owned, they’ve been in operation for over 25 years and in that time Kelly and Fil have forged a reputation for producing some of the regions finest wines. After a work trip to his family's homeland of Italy in the early 1990s, Fil Barreca aged just 21, discovered his intrinsic connection to vineyards and growing grapes on an innovative Sicilian winery. Taking his inspiration and passion back to Donnybrook, he begun planting vines immediately.
Today, with a total cultivation so far of about 46 hectares, Barrecas produce predominantly Shiraz but also other wine varietals like cult favourite Barbera, the popular and much loved blend Shiraz Malbec, Zinfandel, Sangiovese and many more.
On your way to Balingup Heights we recommend you pop into Barrecas, say G’day to Kelly or Fil….and pick up a bottle or two of your  favourite drop. Then wrap yourself in some winter wonder at Balingup Heights. Abundantly snug and cosy . . . think crackling wood fires, a good book, a scrumptious slow cooker meal and of course, a glass of award winning local wine!

Telling Tales....
Telling Tales in Balingup - The magical town of Balingup, will come alive on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th July, 2018 for this year’s ‘Telling Tales in Balingup’. An impressive line up of published authors and illustrators will entice and inspire with story telling, creative writing and illustration workshops, book binding and kite making.
