The Development of a Care Network to Support Two Way Information Sharing: Havering Council
To improve the relationship between the council and external adult social care providers, Havering Council recognised a need to develop a two-way communications model between all providers and the council. The model would support a more equal relationship, focusing on the best possible outcomes for vulnerable residents. This forms part of our adult social care markets and commissioning resource. NW ADASS Market Sustainability Engagement and Research Findings
We are really keen to share our Engagement Report following our NW Markets Review, based on our workshops with commissioners and providers.  This has already been shared with our NW Market Shapers Network, but are keen to share more widely.  We think this will be an extremely useful resource, especially if you are looking at your own engagement on commissioning strategy or developing Market Position Statements - ideally it can supplement your local work.

The North West Market Sustainability and Oversight Review - on the Markets for Residential and Nursing Care Homes and Domiciliary Care for Older People and for Adults with a Learning Disability, published earlier this year, has been endorsed by our Branch and received national praise from the organisations we have share this with.

We also gathered a wealth of information from commissioner and provider through engagement.  We have not previously published the Engagement report but we now feel this would be a valuable resource.

The Engagement report is available Here

Improving Social Care for People with MS
The MS Society launched it’s ‘End the Care Crisis’ campaign in November 2017.  Their accompanying report, describes the impact of the care crisis on people with MS, and what local authorities and Government can do to improve their experience.  MS Society research shows that 1 in 3 people living with multiple sclerosis (MS) are not getting the support they need with essential everyday activities like washing, dressing and eating and this has a huge impact on their lives.  Good social care can help people with MS to live full independent lives, to work and prevent them from accessing NHS services inappropriately.

SCIE, with the Innovation Unit, has been commissioned to produce some practice guidance for social workers supporting people with learning disabilities in transition from children’s to adults’ services. It is part of Lyn Romeo’s work plan for 2018/19 to produce the guidance.
