Sidecar Teams will be Out in Force
at the TT Scrambles This Sunday!

Apple Valley, CA - Monday, June 11, 2018:  We have a very special announce to get out today: An unusual happening will take place at round three of the
TT Scrambles Championship Series coming up this Sunday, June 17, at
Glen Helen Raceway. Richard Myers – a.k.a. “SideCarGeezer” – will be racing a sidecar, which he has not done in just over 10 years.

A big thank-you goes out to Mark McDade, owner of “Mark’s Performance Products” in Hesperia, California as he’s the one responsible for providing Mr. Myers with a top-of-the-line Kawasaki KX 500-powered rig to race.

“At 67, starting over on sidecars might be entertaining,” Myers giggled. “But I’m going to give it everything I got!”

To add to the fun and entertainment of it all, Richard will be riding with first-time passenger/monkey, Thorin Rister, the grandson of Norman Jamison, who rode with the late and legendary Mike Parti, as well as Jack Sherman and others back in the day.  Thorin, who is 21, has never raced a sidecar before.   His decision to do it this coming weekend is because he wants to carry on the family tradition and make his grandpa proud!

Even though it has been ten plus years since Richard has been on a hack, he was a sidecar monkey for several years before becoming a driver, so there will be some intense passenger training going on the morning of the event.  Given Thorin’s blood line, and age, it should be a snap for him to catch on.  Richard, on the other hand, he admits that he will be trying to get the rust out of his old joints while adapting to modern sidecar.

“It should be fun,” Myers said.  "The sidecars are always a good show and this event is a great showcase for them” Richard states “I wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world!”
