That's rank
Google uses a very complex algorithm to assign search terms, aka keywords, a “rank.”
I’m not going to pretend to understand all the facets of page rank. SEO is its own industry and the rules are ever-changing. If you are really interested in learning about SERPs, meta descriptions, and ranking, check out the Moz blog.
That said, here are a few basic things that you can do to impact your company's page rank.
Google search results are a top reason why people still have their own web sites with blogs. Google “reads” your site to determine where it belongs in search results. When people view your site or blog, and when you share links to other people’s high-quality content, your domain gets points toward your page rank. This is called content marketing.
YouTube is a Google company, so posting videos on a company YouTube channel also helps your ranking.
Finally, you can set up a Google My Business listing. This service is sort of an updated Yellow Pages. Your listing adds you to Google Maps and local business results, where your customers can write reviews (word of mouth!)
Of course, you can always buy your way onto the page via Google AdWords. This is called search engine marketing, or SEM. Google auctions the paid spaces on the page to bidders in the AdWords system.
Search is one of those things that’s critical, free, and hard to do yourself. If you rely on a steady flow of leads from search traffic, SEO is a cost-effective use of money. And it’s an important investment of your time to understand which activities support your page rank.
