Spring Party Dancers, June 14, 2018
|
|
Hi <<First Name>>,
We had super weather at SurreyFest on June 16. See picture below. Thanks to Marie & Joan, and to Annie who arrived later in the day. Thanks to Burnaby Folk Dancers for loaning us the tent!
One week from now on June 29, we will be demonstrating at a seniors' barbecue at Fleetwood community centre. Are you available to help? Let me know! Details below. Are you available to practice the day or night before (Thursday, June 28)?
There is a new start time for Sam's folk dance group for their performance at the Taiwanese Canadian Cultural Festival. Their performance is from 3:30pm to 3:50pm on 14th July (Saturday) at the outdoor stage of Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza (630 Hamilton Street, Vancouver). See https://tccfestival.ca/ and poster below for more info.
Our annual SIFD BBQ is on Saturday, July 28, 3-10pm. Bring sensible shoes for walking around the farm and for dancing. Let us know if you want to contribute meat for the BBQ. Bring side dishes, salad, appetizers, beverages, desserts, etc. Please RSVP if you are planning to attend, so we have an idea of how many will be there. Thanks! See details below.
Extra events are optional and are listed here for your information. If a couple of hours of dancing once a week on Thursdays is as much as you want or can manage, that is fine!
- Tuesdays, June 19 to August 21, 7 to 9:30, Vancouver dancers lead folk dancing in Ceperley Meadow, Stanley Park. Free and fun. Ceperley Meadow is past the tennis courts, across from the Pitch and Putt, and near Second Beach. Request dancing is from 7-7:30, teaching is from 7:30-9:30. Dancing is open to everyone, all ages, all skill levels. No previous experience necessary. See VIFD website here.
- Friday, June 29, 1-2pm: Chicken barbecue for Fleetwood Seniors at the Fleetwood Community Centre, 15996 - 84 Ave. Dance demonstration, with some participatory dances, to celebrate Canada Day, July 1. Let me know if you are available to help.
- SIFD Summer BBQ on Saturday, July 28, 3pm-10pm, at Don's farm, 25133 0 Ave, Aldergrove. Folk Voice Band of Seattle will play live music for us! Walk around the farm, dancing, then pot-luck dinner/BBQ, followed by more dancing! RSVP so that we know how many people to expect. Thanks!
- New season starts Thursday, September 6, 2018.
Happy Dancing,
Dale

2018/2019 Demo Dances?
Do you want to help choose our demonstration suite for next year? Let's hold a dance session or two in August to figure out what dances will be on the list.
I will try to schedule times that work for those interested.
