Over 1000 survivors helped

This month we reached (and then quickly surpassed) a milestone worth acknowledging. If your agency is actively using the Safe Shelter Collaborative to find shelter faster for clients, your tireless commitment and labor has meant that over 1000 survivors have been placed in safety, whether in shelters, hotels, or motels, since the Safe Shelter Collaborative first launched over three years ago.

The actual number--1,046--is an interesting number to unpack. The calculation of 1,046 is the sum of donations made via SafeNight and successful shelter placements. Because the Safe Shelter Collaborative does not request any identifying data about survivors, we do not have precise numbers, instead we rely on funding and placement activity. We can presume with great confidence that the number of survivors helped exceeds 1,046 because we expect that requests for hotel funding or placements might include more than one person seeking shelter or that placements are being made when agencies don't close out the case.

The statistics above are updated monthly on our web site to showcase your role in expanding access to shelter. Use the image and numbers in your outreach to demonstrate how your efforts are contributing to the wider national collaborations helping survivors in 11 states (and growing!) access the sheltering resources they so desperately need.

We've learned so much from the agencies that participate in the Safe Shelter Collaborative and we're so pleased to recount and reflect on all we've accomplished together. This is truly a collaborative effort!
