Update & Events

Time to ride!

We've had a busy schedule this last month or so.  The Mini Rally, Stockbridge All Clubs Ride, Ypsi Bike Nights, Oakland ADV Ride, BMW SEM Open house, BMW SEM Track day, and the TCD Road and Trail.  Hopefully, you were able to come out for one of them, but if not - we have a lot of great rides coming up.

We also had a contingent of riders head to Barrie, Ontario for some GS training at the BMW Performance Riding Centre.  It was a great time as always, and we learned a lot.  This is a great option for training, as it's much closer than other schools, and the exchange rate works in our favor.

This weekend, June 17th is Father's Day.  Celebrate it by joining us for breakfast in Pinckney and then riding to Mason for some ice cream.  The Daily Scoop features ice cream from the Michigan State Dairy.  So if you've been wanting some 'Dantonio's Double Fudge Fake' (Chocolate fudge based ice cream with a caramel swirl, caramel-filled chocolate footballs, and brownie pieces) or 'Izzo's Malted Madness' (Malted vanilla ice cream with a fudge swirl and malted milk balls), we'll see you on Sunday!

We have one of the best TCD events coming up this month, the Longest Day Ride. This is a great event for on-road and off-road riders. It's held just after the summer solstice (hence the name...)

We camp at Cycle-Moore Campground in Interlochen.  There are also local motels available a couple of miles away in town.

Saturday, the typical road ride is a lap around the Leelanau Pennisula. Frankfort, Empire, Glen Arbor, Northport, Grand Traverse Lighthouse, Sutton’s Bay. A good old paper map will suffice, GPS not required for this one. This is one of the best areas of the state for road-riding.

The off-road crew has an advanced ride up to the campground on Friday and local trail rides on Saturday for all levels.

Often we eat dinner Friday at the Hofbrau in Interlochen, but it can vary if people want to do something different.  Big campfires are build both Friday and Saturday nights.

Attendance is normally a 50/50 split between on-road and off-road riders.  Plan to make it if you can!

If you're not attending the Longest Day Ride, the new BMW Motorcycles of Detroit is holding their open house June 22nd-23rd.  They have the demo truck coming in for rides on both Friday and Saturday.

Join us for Ypsi Bike Nights.  On the second Tuesday of the month in the summer, you can find us at Ypsilanti Bike Night in Depot Town.  A long-standing but informal tradition for many club members.  Come on out and check it out.  Grab dinner, or an ice-cream and check out the bikes.  We meet at the Sidetrack at 6:30.

Hope to see you soon!
