We will be electing officers for next year, discussing upcoming plans, and enjoying ice cream!  Tuesday 6/5 at 6:30pm.  We hope to see you there!

Administrative Updates

Note the following dates:
Locker cleanout: Friday 6/8
Last day of classes for 7th grade: Friday 6/15
Last day of classes for 8th grade: Monday 6/18.  For 8th grade students taking the Algebra Regents (6/12), Living Environment Regents (6/13), or Spanish Checkpoint A exam (6/18), students should attend periods 1-4 as normal.  Lunch will be served during period 5 with the exam following.
Last day of classes for grades 9-12: Monday 6/11.  Regents exams are 6/5, 6/12-6/14, 6/18-6/21.

Technology upgrades!  TV monitors are replacing smart boards, plus the addition of 44 chrome book carts.

   Sports News  

The SOTA Silverhawks had a great spring season! Highlights included…

…our girls softball winning another City Championship over Franklin (18-1), and beating Aquinas in a first round sectional game to advance to their first Class AA semi-final vs. Batavia.  Coach Vandermallie will be stepping down after 23 years as head coach of the Varsity Softball team…what a great season to go out on!

…our boys baseball team winning their consolation game vs. Monroe in the City Tournament, then on to win their first round sectional game to advance to their first semi-final game vs. Wayne.

All SOTA athletes and their families are invited to the year-end Sports Banquet this coming Tuesday, June 5 @ 5:30pm in the Main Stage Theatre. The program will include highlights from the fall, winter & spring seasons, announcement of this year’s recipient of SOTA’s Invest in Yourself Award, and other special acknowledgements. Teams will then break out into separate rooms for team awards.

Friends of SOTA  

The Friends of SOTA is giving out the most scholarships, both in number and award level,  in our history – over $10,000 is being awarded in all!  Many thanks to all of you who have helped make these scholarships to deserving SOTA graduating seniors possible.

This year, we’re especially excited to award the very first Lorie Dengler Dewey Scholarship.  Bob Dewey will be making this presentation.   The Annual Awards Night is on Wednesday. June 6, 2018 from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM on the Allen Main Stage.  If you have never been, it is the SOTA feel good event of the year!

Recent allocations include: 

• Funds to Mr. Michelson, Athletic Director, to take SOTA students for Careers in Sports Day, hosted by the Rochester Red Wings at Frontier Field on April 25.
• Funds to  Mrs. Sirianni, Guidance Counselor, to cover the cap and gown costs for a student in need.
• Thanks to all who supported our Class Acts fundraiser on May 12th.  Next year we plan on having it earlier in the spring when there seem to be fewer conflicts.
