Abilitazione universitaria di David Neuhold

Il 23 marzo 2018 è stato un giorno importante per la nostra Congregazione. In una sala affollatissima dell’Università Miséricorde di Fribourg (Svizzera) si è concluso il processo di abilitazione universitaria di David Neuhold, con un lavoro, in tedesco, intitolato “La Chiesa, i soldi e la nazione. Sguardi storico-critici su P. Léon Dehon (1843-1925), Fondatore di una congregazione moderna”. Il lavoro è stato finanziato dal Governo generale che rispondeva così alla richiesta del Capitolo generale del 2009. Ora si tratta di rendere accessibile questo lavoro tramite traduzioni in italiano e inglese. Qui si può leggere la notizia pubblicata su dehon.it.

Morte di P. Egidio Driedonkx

È morto all’età di 90 anni, a Nijmegen – Olanda, P. Egidio Driedonkx. Nel 1988 era stato nominato archivista generale della Congregazione. Successivamente, per un periodo di circa 20 anni, ha collaborato con il Centro Studi Dehoniani a Roma. La sua conoscenza delle fonti dehoniane era straordinaria. Questa competenza era all’origine di molti lavori sulla vita di p. Dehon e sulla storia degli inizi della Congregazione. Solo nella collana Studia Dehoniana sono stati pubblicati 7 volumi con i suoi studi. Durante i due decenni di lavoro a Roma riusciva a combinare i suoi soggiorni romani con la sua attività pastorale nel Cile, dove ha operato per 50 anni. È la terza volta

Il 6 aprile 2018, con la nomina di P. Heiner Wilmer SCJ a vescovo di Hildesheim (Germania) la Congregazione si è trovata in una situazione eccezionale – ma non del tutto nuova. Già altre due volte, infatti, era accaduto che un superiore generale in carica fosse nominato vescovo. Nel suo breve studio, P. Juan José Arnaiz Ecker, vicedirettore del CSD, esamina i tre casi dei PP. Philippe, De Palma e Wilmer, spiega le differenze fra essi, soffermandosi soprattutto sul perché, nei primi due casi, i PP. Philippe e De Palma fossero rimasti in carica come superiori generali fino alla loro consacrazione episcopale, mentre P. Wilmer, già a partire dalla data della nomina, ha smesso di essere alla guida della Congregazione. Ecco la versione italiana, spagnola e portoghese.

Save the date!

Nel mese di maggio ha avuto inizio un nuovo progetto di collaborazione fra la Congregazione e l’Università Pedagogica di Lucerna (Svizzera). Il fulcro di tale progetto è lo studio della devozione al Sacro Cuore in un approccio multidisciplinare: La costruzione della memoria, l’iconografia del Sacro Cuore, la corporeità di tale devozione sono tra le parole chiave che caratterizzano il progetto stesso. Come espressione concreta di questa collaborazione è previsto un convegno internazionale nei giorni 8 e 9 novembre del 2019, che si svolgerà a Roma, presso Villa Aurelia. Quindi un evento da prenotare nel proprio calendario!

DehonDocs International

Nei mesi scorsi il sito DehonDocsInternational, la piattaforma per le traduzioni esistenti delle opere di p. Dehon, è stato arricchito di alcune pubblicazioni. Sono state aggiunte, tra l’altro, per la lingua polacca, le Notes Quotidiennes dal 1867 al 1894. Fra le traduzioni in italiano spicca la pubblicazione del Rinnovamento Sociale Cristiano. Di fatto si tratta della riedizione a cura di p. André Perroux. Oltre al testo dei discorsi sociali di P. Dehon, l’introduzione a questa edizione offre un’ampia visione dell’apostolato sociale del nostro Fondatore.

Extensive research about Dehon

March 23 was an important day for our Congregation; in a crowded hall at the University of Miséricorde in Fribourg (Switzerland) a public lecture concluded the process of the post-doc work of David Neuhold. He presented his thesis titled: “The Church, Money and the Nation. Historical-critical views of Fr. Léon J. Dehon (1843-1925), founder of a modern congregation” (the original text is in German). The project was financed by the General administration, which wanted to respond to a recommendation of the 2009 General Chapter. Now it is up to the CSD to coordinate translations in English and Italian. Here you will find the entire article published on dehon.it.

Death of Fr. Egidio Driedonkx

At the age of 90, Fr. Egidio Driedonkx died in Nijmegen (Netherlands). In 1988 he was appointed archivist general of the Congregation. For 20 years, until he returned to the Netherlands, he worked for the Centro Studi Dehoniani in Rome. His knowledge of Dehonian resources was extraordinary. This competence was the basis of many works on the life of Fr. Dehon and on the history of the beginnings of the Congregation. In the Studia Dehoniana series alone, seven volumes of his work have been published. For two decades he combined his work in Rome with his pastoral activities in Chile, where he worked for 50 years. The third time!

On April 6, 2018, with the appointment of Fr. Heiner Wilmer, SCJ, as Bishop of Hildesheim (Germany), the Congregation found itself in an exceptional situation, but not an entirely new one. Twice previously a sitting superior general has been appointed bishop. In his brief study, Fr. Juan José Arnaiz Ecker, Deputy Director of the CSD, examines the situations of Frs. Philippe, de Palma and Wilmer and explains the differences between the three cases and above all, the fact that the first two remained in office as superior general until their episcopal consecration while Fr. Wilmer, starting from the date of appointment, no longer was at the helm of the Congregation. Here you find the Italian, Spanish and Portuguese texts.

Save the date

Recently, the Congregation started a new collaboration project with the Pedagogical University of Lucerne (Switzerland). At the center of this project is the study of devotion to the Sacred Heart in a multidisciplinary approach. The construction of memory, the iconography of the Sacred Heart, and the corporeity of this devotion are among the key topics. As a concrete expression of this collaboration an international conference is scheduled for 8 and 9 November, 2019, which will take place in Rome at Villa Aurelia. This is an event to book in your calendar!

DehonDocs International

In recent months, the DehonDocs International website, the platform for the existing translations of the works of Fr. Dehon, has been enriched by several publications. For the Polish language, among other writings, the Notes Quotidiennes were added from 1867 to 1894. Among the Italian translations, the publication of the Christian Social Renewal stands out. In fact, it is a re-publication originally done by Fr. André Perroux. In addition to the text of the social discourses of Fr. Dehon, the introduction to this edition offers a broad vision of the social apostolate of our Founder.
