"Human progress is our cause, liberty of thought our supreme wish, freedom of conscience our mission, and the guarantee of equal rights to all people everywhere our ultimate goal."
-The Scottish Rite Creed

A quote from Ill. Albert Pike, 33°
"A good man will find that there is goodness in the world; an honest man will find that there is honesty in the world; and a man of principle will find principle and integrity in the hearts of others."
|
|
"It is organized as a fellowship of men, a system of morals, a philosophy taught by degrees through the use of symbol, story, legend, pictures, and drama. It has served as a center of union among differing backgrounds, cultures, and countries. It serves as the means of conciliating true friendship among persons, who, because of differences, must have otherwise remained at a perpetual distance"

"The way you think about a fact may defeat you before you ever do anything about it. You are overcome by the fact because you think you are."
|

“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”

“Those who will not reason, are bigots; those who cannot, are fools; and those who dare not, are slaves.”

"I come to your altar, O Lord, singing a song of thanksgiving and telling of all your wonders..." Psalm 26:6-7
The practice of Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth starts in the mind, and often times it's simply our own mindset that can positively or negatively affect others. Ancient wisdom of all ages has taught that thankfulness is one of the highest forms of thought. How often do we find time to pray when we are in need of something but neglect to offer up thanks and appreciation when the need is met? Scottish Rite Freemasonry is as much about educating ourselves on the ancient traditions and philosophies as it is about putting them into sincere practice, and learning from each other inside our lodge walls how to better compose ourselves outside of them - but it starts in our own minds, through the freedom of our own choices of how we decide to think. Counting our blessings can change a rough day into a beautiful one, all by simply choosing to spend a few moments appreciating what we have, rather than focusing on what is currently bringing us down. The degrees and teachings of Scottish Rite Freemasonry give its students practical lessons bathed in truth, illustrated in life, concreted in history, and actualized in application, and offers its adepts a philosophical path worthy of traversing - a path that produces genuine and unconditional thankfulness. Remember that like attracts like, and though "philosophy is a kind of journey, ever learning yet never arriving at the ideal perfection of truth," what makes this journey fun and interesting is being on it with others.

FOUNDATION MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the Scottish Rite Foundation of Missouri, Inc., to enhance the lives of the children of Missouri by actively embracing high social, moral and spiritual value through: the RiteCare Childhood Language Program, Youth Programs, Scholarships and Disaster Relief.
FOUNDATION HISTORY AND PURPOSE
The Scottish Rite Foundation of Missouri, Inc. was originally incorporated in 1946 as the Scottish Rite Endowment, Philanthropic, and Educational Foundation, Inc. Its purpose was to provide the public charities of the order and go beyond that given by the Almoner to needy brethren.
The Foundation concentrates on four principal charities:
- To provide financial support of the Orient RiteCare Clinics;
- To grant undergraduate scholarships to deserving individuals attending an accredited college or university and pursuing a bachelor’s degree;
- To give financial assistance for medical, dental, and personal needs to children who would otherwise have to do without the treatment or benefit; and
- To give financial assistance to Missouri DeMolay to offset their expenses related to leadership training and education.
It has been a matter of custom and precedent to urge those financially able Scottish Rite members who are 32° to give $32, those who are KCCH to give $32.50 and 33° brethren to give $33 annually to the Foundation. There is also an Albert Pike Society which is composed of members who give $10,000 to the Foundation. The contribution may be made in lump sum or over a period of ten years. Donors receive recognition by having their names inscribed on a plaque which lists every member and which is displayed in each of the Valleys.
