Congratulations and Recognition
Dr. Jenny O’Rourke and her team received funding for the second year of the HRSA Grant: Advanced Nursing Education Workforce. This grant has helped the School of Nursing increase the ability of primary care nurses to serve in rural and community settings. This grant has also helped Niehoff move the Psych Mental Health NP Program forward.
Dr. Barbara Velsor-Friedrich received the HRSA Award for the Nurse Faculty Loan Program for $140,000, which provides scholarship support to our doctoral students who agree to take a faculty position after graduation. This award is allows many Niehoff doctoral students to continue towards their goal of completing a doctoral program.
Dr. Ann Solari-Twadell and her team (Drs. Burkhart, Vlasses, Skemp, Connor, McCarthy, Riddosh, Kostovich, Hackbarth and Andresen and Mrs. Dillon) for the HRSA Award: Nurse, Education, Practice, Quality and Retention of Registered Nurses in Primary Care in the amount of $698,000 per year with a potential for four years of funding.
An interprofessional team at Loyola University Chicago has been selected to participate in the NCI-sponsored Interprofessional Education Exchange (iPEX) Project for 2018-2019. This program will help prepare the team to develop, implement and evaluate interprofessional education in palliative care at Loyola University Chicago. The team was led by Patti Friend PhD, APN-CNS, AOCNS, AGN-BC from the School of Nursing, and includes John Orwat, PhD, LCSW and Marcia Spira PhD, LCSW from the School of Social Work, and Theresa Kristopaitis MD, FACP and Shelly Lo, MD from the Stritch School of Medicine.
