A Safe Place to Rest your Head

The Haven has been supporting women affected by domestic abuse for nearly 45 years and emergency, temporary accommodation is an important part of this service.

Through our 64 secure units we offer high quality accommodation including communal kitchens, dining and living areas, private bedrooms, en-suite facilities, children's play areas and facilities for disabled residents. In refuge we offer emotional and practical support and have been accredited with the Women's Aid Quality Mark for service standards.
Awards Galore

2017-18 has seen The Haven win four awards for services and staff. We started our run with the Queen's Award for Voluntary Servicethe highest award for local volunteer groups to recognise outstanding work done in communities. This was followed by the Princess Royal Training Award, honouring The Haven's Peer Mentoring Programme. Finally our Senior Helpline Officer, Kully Kaur, won the Helpline Employee of the Year award, recognising her work she does supporting women through our helpline.

Earlier this month we announced our fourth award:
Campaigning

We are proud to campaign with and on behalf of women who experience violence and abuse. Throughout the year we have attended city campaigning events, as well as running a few of our own.

Read about #16days of Activism, Empurple Week and International Women's Day, SOS, Our Girl and how we said NO to so-called Honor Based Violence.
Social Value and Collaboration

We couldn't deliver activities and services so successfully without the help of supporters and partners. Thanks to the generosity of the local community - individuals, groups, and companies alike - The Haven has been able to run it's core services and additional activities this year.
Community Support

The Haven's Community Team support women living in their own homes. Their  specialisms enable us to reach women from marginalised groups including BAME, Sexual Violence, FGM, Forced Marriage and Young Women.

We work to empower women and so regularly run the Freedom Programme and Power to Change. Recent research from the University of Wolverhampton shows the impact of this work. Working with young women is key to reach the age-group statistically most likely to experience abuse and raise awareness of the realities of living with abuse. Most recently we delivered training to the University of Wolverhampton's Student's Union to help increase their understanding of the affects of abuse.
Enhancing and Enriching

As well as our main service provision, The Haven runs additional projects and activities where funding allows.

Through funding from Children in Need we've been running our successful children's service in refuge for almost a year, supporting the wellbeing of children who have experienced abuse.

This summer, we're excited to launch our You Matter digital tool, helping women to 'realise it's abuse', thanks to a joint funding initiative between the Tampon Tax Fund, a partnership between HM Government and Comic Relief, and the Big Lottery Fund.
The Dolphin Programme

Coming soon, our new parenting programme - The Dolphin Programme. The programme will support mothers to rediscover their confidence and support their parenting whilst overcoming the effects of abuse.

Events and Activities

Back for 2018 is The Haven's Million Steps Event. This October, we're challenging locals to walk a combined million steps in aid of The Haven, focused on our event walking from The Molineux around the city. Book your place now to join us on 13 October to stamp out domestic abuse.
