ASTDD State Synopses
The Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors (ASTDD) has released the Summary Report 2018 Synopses of State Dental Public Health Programs Data for FY 2016-2017. Each January, ASTDD distributes the Synopses questionnaire to the 50 states and the District of Columbia to obtain current information from each state on demographic, infrastructure, workforce, and administrative factors that impact the state’s oral health program. State specific information from the 2018 Synopses is available to ASTDD members.

Medicaid and CHIP Scorecard
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released the Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Scorecard with links to national policy and program topics and state profiles. This first version of the Scorecard includes information on selected health and program indicators such as subsets of measures from the CMS Medicaid and CHIP Child and Adult Core Sets (e.g., well child visits, mental health conditions, children’s preventive dental services, and chronic conditions) along with federal and state accountability measures (e.g., state/federal timeliness of managed care capitation rate reviews; time from submission to approval for Section 1115 demonstrations; state/federal state plan amendment processing times, etc.). National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research Website Redesign
The newly redesigned website of NIH’s National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) features an easy to navigate structure that helps visitors quickly find the information they seek, and several new health topics available in Spanish. The updates are based on extensive research that examined the needs and preferences of NIDCR’s diverse audiences and the usability of the site. The website’s responsive design adapts to the viewer’s screen size—whether a desktop monitor, tablet, or smartphone—an important feature since more than half of NIDCR’s web visitors access the site via mobile devices.
