NEWSLETTER - June 2018

From the Desk of Our Executive Director

When I sit down to write the introduction to our newsletter each month, I consider what our subscribers would be interested in hearing about. As always therefore, I invite you to let me know of topics you would like me to cover by emailing me at charlie.bresler@thelifeyoucansave.org

June 20th is World Refugee Day. As we are all acutely aware, this is one of the largest--and growing--groups of people living in extreme poverty around the world. Several of our recommended nonprofits are doing wonderful work to improve conditions and life going forward for those who are forced, due to a range of terrible circumstances usually out of their control, to flee their homes and adapt to new environments often marked by dramatic deprivation. Some of the Charity Voices articles below share accounts of these important interventions.

I am excited to share the Giving Game Project’s 2017 Annual Report. It includes an update on our philanthropy education work and presents new evidence about the program’s efficacy.  I hope you’ll give it a read.

Good Living and Good Giving,
