Citizens are unable to get timely information about waiting times for care, the results of care, or the rate of preventable mistakes in their local health facilities.

Healthcare systems around the world are facing increased public and government scrutiny, financial pressure and challenges inherent with increasingly complex patients. There is a need to accelerate the pace of change, and improve the quality of care while also reducing cost. These changes must center on improving care and increasing accountability for quality in the system.
Inter-Provincial Migration Intentions of Family Physicians in Canada: The Roles of Income and Community Characteristics

The inter-provincial migration patterns of family physicians in Canada show that some provinces like Newfoundland and Saskatchewan experience persistent net out-migration, while others, including Ontario and British Columbia, are destinations more often than origins of migrants. Authors report that policy and program designers should acknowledge the critical role of community-level living and working conditions in their family physician recruitment and retention efforts.
