Hi <<First Name>>,
This Thursday is our Spring Party and last dancing session of the season. Bring finger-food to share and wear an ethnic costume if you like. Created from your votes last week, see the party dance list below. Or have a look here where years taught and number of votes received is also detailed.
Two days after the party, on Saturday, June 16 is our display table at Surrey Fest Downtown, Holland Park. We may also be demonstrating, not sure about that.
A couple of us saw Sam's folk dance group last Friday. Their performance was excellent with lots of costume changes! They will be performing at the Taiwanese Canadian Cultural Festival from 4pm to 4:20pm on 14th July (Saturday) at the outdoor stage of Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza (630 Hamilton Street, Vancouver). See https://tccfestival.ca/ and poster below for more info.
Sophia Alexandrova attended a very interesting presentation given by the Vancouver Cantonese Opera which showcased a lovely dance called a "watersleeve" dance. The director was most interesting and will be teaching the dance this summer in Richmond over multiple sessions. Sophia is planning to attend and thought there may be others who would be interested as well (women's dance). Contact Sophia at alexandrova1@shaw.ca if you are interested. See more details below.
Extra events are optional and are listed here for your information. If a couple of hours of dancing once a week on Thursdays is as much as you want or can manage, that is fine!
