Poetry and Class Politics with Jane Commane, event 6. Discussion around class, politics, poetry and the age of austerity and its general effect on the arts, and barriers to participation. What is the role of art / poetry / publishing in the aftermath of Brexit and how can we be a part of changing or affecting the discourse? Jane Commane will be in conversation with Chloe Garner.

Ledbury Forte Second Collection Prize Showcase and Celebration, event 67. This event is an incredible opportunity to hear five exciting and varied mid-career poets selected by the Ledbury Forte Prize judges Vahni Capildeo and Tara Bergin - winner Sandeep Parmar will read alongside Judy Brown, Emma Hammond, John McCullough and John Clegg

Vahni Capildeo, says ‘the shortlisted writers expanded my horizons...Each of these publications made me rethink what a book, or collection, of poetry can be...These writers are ethical word-wizards whose already astonishing poetry I want to endorse’. 

Translators en garde! Ukrainian Translation Duel, event 79. and British Sign Language Translation Duel, event 15. Both of these events will compare and contrast two translators’ approaches. To a striking and powerful poem by one of Ukraine’s strongest and most singular poets. And/or to a poem by leading British Sign Language poet Paul Scott. Watch translators cross swords, and join in the conversation: what makes a translation ‘work’ as English-language poetry?

Plus tickets are still available for Chris Difford and Miles Jupp sharing their favourite poems. How to be a Poet workshop with Jo Bell and Jane Commane - with masterclasses on redrafting and getting published. Plus critical reflections on Emily Dickinson and Elizabeth Barrett Browning with the New Perspectives series featuring Ledbury Emerging Poetry Critics and a whole day immersion in the poetry of Wallace Stevens, hosted by Maitreyabandhu featuring T.S.Eliot prize winning American poet Mark Doty
