In New York, space is limited. Mere inches separate you from the other diners in a restaurant, the square footage of your apartment is less than four digits (unless you’re lucky), and every store is long and narrow (and difficult to navigate with a shopping cart). When you get out of New York, there’s an abundance of space: in your home, your office, your favorite stores, the open road, the list goes on. I’ve spent much of this week thinking about my space.
My new essay, “Making Space”, is about the benefits of carving out both physical and mental spaces to create. I set out to decorate my office and, in the process, realized that I had some mental decluttering to do as well.
