Mr R Mangan,  Principal

Dear Parents, Caregivers & Friends of the College

Next week is an important week for our senior students.  It is Senior Assessment Week, and all Year 11 to Year 13 students and Year 10 Accelerate classes have assessments over this time.  These assessments take the form of internal assessment tasks for NCEA Internal Achievement Standard Credits and practice external exams to prepare boys for NCEA External Exams that will be held at the end of the year.

All students are expected to be at school on Monday 11th through until Thursday 14th June as assessments will occur during class time in a number of subject areas.

On Friday 15th June, 2 to 3-hour practical exams will be held. Students involved have been informed directly. Any student needed to do a catch-up exam will also complete that on Friday. Otherwise, those students not involved in these exams are not required to attend school on that day.

All boys have been notified of these arrangements and should know what the expectation is of them.

Traditionally, some boys under-prepare for these assessment tasks and exams and fail to gain maximum benefit from the assessment opportunities available.

Thorough preparation for the assessments will maximise their opportunities to succeed and set a sound platform on which to base their academic success this year.  They will be able to identify gaps or weaknesses in their knowledge and then work to ensure these deficiencies are rectified.

Parents need to be aware that as some of these exams carry internal NCEA Credits this may be the only assessment opportunity.

Your son needs to understand clearly the requirements and attend every class next week.  Those students who fail to meet this commitment will be required to make up the time.

Parents of Years 11, 12 and 13 students will receive Mid-Year Reports by 29th June.
