Holistic Notion newsletter

Welcome to the July newsletter.

The winter months is often a good time for reflection. There is a quote in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Yellow Emperor which sums this up:

“In winter, all is hidden.
Winter is the season of retirement into depth, because of the cold outside.
At this time you must not disturb or disperse the yang (Fire, active) so that you can allow the yin reserves to be re-established within you.”

Traditional natural medicine puts a lot of stock into living in harmony with the seasonal cycles for good health. Unfortunately, more of this traditional wisdom is being lost.

My winter reflection

Its now been three months since I’ve moved my practice to the historic Block Arcade in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD on Collins Street.

Running a practice in the city has certainly been a learning curve for me, as it’s a very different place than suburban life. Although there are many apartments in the city, it's mainly a place people pass through – be it for work, education, tourism, entertainment or shopping! A very active 'Yang' energy as the Yellow Emperor said! Luckily, working in a solid 150-year-old building brings some welcome Yin balance suitable for the practice of traditional natural medicine!

Your Health, Your Choice

Many of you will be aware of the Your Health Your Choice campaign. It was launched in response to attacks on natural medicine, to take away choice from people wanting to use natural approaches. So far 88,938 people have signed the petition on the website, which is being used to lobby politicians and government bureaucrats. If you feel strongly about keeping your option to use natural medicine, please consider signing up and showing support at:
