Visual Arts Update
HIGHLIGHTS: Great Art Doing Good: fundraising events / Clyde McGill's Border Crossers now at Holmes à Court @ Vasse Felix / Tactile Tour of Hatched / Gomboc Gallery Sculpture Park
Now - October 7, Holmes à Court Gallery at Vasse Felix. Clyde McGill's large scale paintings are now on show in Cowaramup. If you didn't see them at the new Holmes a Court Gallery in West Perth, this is your chance! In 2007 Clyde McGill began looking at borderlands as they relate to refugees who come by boat and his paintings contain their stories.
Now - July 15, Fremantle Arts Centre. Caspar Fairhall works across painting, video and interactive art. Making use of contradictions and paradoxes in visual illusion, his work often looks at the tension between our intuitions of space and time, and what we can understand about the world from science and philosophy.
Jun 23 at 2pm, PICA. This free guided tour allows people who are blind or vision impaired to explore contemporary art through informed discussion and by touching selected objects and materials. From painting, sculpture and drawing, to installation, video, and sound work, this exhibition offers an intriguing snapshot of current emerging art practices in Australia.

Not to be Missed
Cy avoids the details of the landscape replacing it with emotional strokes, colour relationships and textural scrapes of the palette knife. Layering, scraping and blending are a distinctive pattern of Cy’s work creating a raw, tranquil and emotive outcome. Recent works can be viewed by appointment at her North Perth studio.
Now - June 29, Midland Junction Arts Centre. With an acute focus on the physical details and behaviours of natural phenomena, Maley showcases his love and appreciation for animals and insects in the wild.  As a series of works on paper, Specimens meticulously illustrates the detailed form, colour and texture.
Now - Jun 24, Moores Building Contemporary Art Gallery.  A group exhibition by local artists including Robyn Varpins, Jillian Kurz, Kate Stevens and Lucy Henry whose work ranges from abstract through to realistic. The exhibition features sculptural clay objects and paintings inspired by the oceans and landscape.
Jun 16 - Jul 15, Linton and Kay Subiaco. Emerging artist, Stephanie Reisch's works are full of intrigue, her imagery is imbued with a subtle mystery as she abstracts motifs inspired by exotic wildlife. Reisch uses contemporary animism to subvert conventional representations of nature as she creates new perceptions of the primal and untamed.
Now - Jul 29, Gomboc Gallery Sculpture Park. The Sculpture Park has developed over the past 36 years and the annual sculpture exhibition is a major showcase with international and national perspective from invited artists. This year artworks by artists from Taiwan University of the Arts are included and there is a diverse display of sculpture throughout the grounds.
