Social Security Expected to Dip Into Its Reserves This Year This is three years sooner than expected. We will continue to use conservative social security estimates in our retirement plans. 

Student-Debt Forgiveness Is a Wonderful Boon, Until the IRS Comes Calling Loan debt can be forgiven, but the amount forgiven may be taxable as income all in one year. Many are not aware of this and will not be able to afford the tax bill, which is essentially a balloon payment.
