Greetings from O'Brien Guitars

This past week two students from Orlando, Florida came to my shop and built two classical guitars with me. Although this is not the first time that two people have built two guitars in six days with me, it is the first time that a guitar teacher and his student have come to build guitars together. They just happen to be friends and so they decided to come and do this project together. It was a fun week and now they are leaving with the guitars they built. Before leaving and just after having put on the strings, I put them on the spot asked them to play a little something for us. Please see the video below.

Now that this two student class is complete I am preparing to go to Brazil where I will be teaching a 10 day complete guitar building class in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo. This course, called the SP Guitar Show,  is offered by Miguel Cardone of Music Tools. I also will be going to Curitiba in Southern, Brazil where I will be teaching a 2 day French polish class at Oficina São Francisco.  The month of July is going to be a busy month but I look foward to returning at the end of month and hosting Australian luthier, Trevor Gore in my shop for his three day modal tuning classes in August.

This week I also released my most recent video in my popular Luthier Tips du Jour series. It features a little tool that helps me measure brace height while building.

If you are interested in learning to build guitars or just want
to see how I build my guitars then schedule a class with me.
If you are in need of a concert quality classical or steel string
guitar then let me know as I would love to build a guitar for you.

Thank you,
