My Health Record puts your health in your hands

By the end of 2018, a My Health Record will be created for every Australian, unless they choose not to have one. Having a My Health Record means important health information – including allergies, medical conditions and treatments, medicine details and scan reports – can be accessed through one system.

During the three-month opt out period which runs from 16 July to 15 October, people who do not want to have a My Health Record will have the opportunity to  opt out.

Research Project - Survey Invitation 

Paul Godfrey is undertaking a psychology research project at the University of New England. He is interested in understanding how Australian adults differ in terms of their available mental health support networks, and other factors like depression and sleep quality. 
 
To explore this topic, Paul has designed a brief (5-10 minutes), anonymous survey, that is open to all Australian adults.

Elder abuse to work to end "scourge on society"

Quelling elder abuse will be the charge of a national alliance, officially launched yesterday by Commonwealth Attorney-General Christian Porter, at an event hosted by Seniors Rights Service.

The Department of Health: End of financial year reminder for providers

The end of financial year is fast approaching and we would like to remind all aged care providers to please submit their claims (both online and paper) to the Department of Human Services as soon as possible. This will ensure that your claims are processed in a timely fashion. 
 
If your claim forms have missing or incorrect details, the Department of Human Services will return them for corrections. This can delay processing. Reduce delays by confirming your details before submitting your claim for payment.

News article in response to statement by the Prime Minister in question time in regards to a hypothetical aged care worker, “The 60-year-old aged care worker in Burnie is entitled to aspire to get a better job, is entitled to get a promotion, is entitled to be able to earn more money.” This is the phrase uttered in Parliament question time yesterday that has drawn the ire of Labor and has aged care groups working again to boost the perception of the sector. Grants are available for initiatives targeting Culturally & Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities. Additionally, any project can apply for a grant in the “General” category.
