Congratulations and Recognition

Dr. Lisa Skemp was elected to the board of the National Hartford Center for Gerontological Nursing Excellence.
 

Congratulations to Dr. MaryMargaret Sharp-Pucci and the faculty and staff involved in the undergraduate HSM program on their very successful accreditation hearing held in Philadelphia at the AUPHA convention. HSM leaders who were involved in the accreditation hearing from across the nation commented on their high regard for the curriculum and learning and evaluation methods utilized in the HSM Program.
 

Dr. David Miles, a PhD in Nursing graduate, had his dissertation work published in the Journal of Nursing Education. His dissertation committee members were Drs. Nancy Hogan, Barbara Velsor-Friedrich, and Leann Horsley, and Dr. Lee Schmidt was the chair.

Congratulations to Victoria “Vi” Rideaux!  Vi received her Associates of Arts in Human Sciences and World Languages from Harold Washington College in May.

Ignatian Service Days

You are invited to join colleagues and serve at one of the following service sites. Please register by Friday, July 13.
 
  • Friday, July 27: Loyolans from the Water Tower and Lake Shore campuses will host service opportunities at three different locations. The Well of Mercy in West Rogers Park supports single mothers and their children. The House of the Good Shepherd and Madonna House in Lakeview support homeless families and those overcoming domestic violence. Sarah's Circle in Uptown serves homeless and at-risk women.
 
  • Saturday, August 4: The Health Sciences Campus will host a shared day of service for the University and Loyola University Health System in the Maywood and Berwyn communities. Volunteers work closely with Maywood Fine Arts, Housing Forward, Catholic Charities, and St. Mary of Celle, St. Eulalia Catholic Church, Quinn Community Center, ENRICH Garden, and the Proviso Partners for Health Giving Garden.

The communications department is gathering story ideas for this fall's Niehoff magazine. If you have student accomplishments, research news, or other stories to share, please e-mail Erinn Connor.
