This summer, in conjunction with a tour of Ontario by Russian dairy farmers, the ECFWA is hosting a membership social and professional development event in Durham Region.
Beginning at 2pm on July 18, tour Archibald Orchards just North of Bowmanville and learn about apple production, cider and wine making, and agri-tourism. John Greig, editor of Farmtario (Ontario's newest ag publication) will speak on what's happening in Ontario agricultural journalism today, along with programs and competitions he's participated in as an ECFWA member - both nationally and internationally - and information about the Russian dairy farmers and why they are touring Ontario Farms.
From there, participating journalists and ag communicators are invited to nearby Benrise Dairy Farms for a twilight meeting and evening barbeque. Hosted by Leading Livestock Genetics, the visiting Russians will make this stop part of their five day car trek across Ontario, called "Motor Rally".
This event is free for ECFWA members, or $20 for non-members.
With the CFWF 2020 Conference being hosted by ECFWA, the planning has already begun. Our most important next step is deciding on a location for this exciting event. The proposed locations include: Hamilton, Windsor, and Guelph, with tours stretching across SouthWestern Ontario for all of the proposed locations. Please visit the survey, find out more about the proposed locations, and submit your feedback to help us choose a confirmed location to host the nations agricultural communicators and journalists.
