City Set to Unveil Major Upgrades for Cambridge Reserve

The City of Kalamunda has been working with community and consultants to develop a draft Concept Design for the enhancement of Cambridge Reserve, Forrestfield. In it's final stages, the draft design is expected to open for public comment in the coming days.

The Concept Design is being developed based on the feedback received during the community engagement process undertaken in early 2018. The City requested input from local residents and community members on their vision, values and ideas for the reserve. Over 60 people made contributions via surveys, submissions and attending community workshops.

The purpose of the plan is to provide an area that will connect the community; somewhere that can be enjoyed by both young and old. The plan and a survey will be available for viewing at engage.kalamunda.wa.gov.au later this week.

Funding Confirmed for Kalamunda Community Centre Upgrades

The State Government last week announced a $3 million funding commitment for upgrades to Kalamunda Community Centre. The contribution brings the committed funding to over $7 million, with contributions from Lotterywest, Department of Industry and Regional Development and the City of Kalamunda.

The funding will assist in the expansion of the Community Centre to include learning spaces, a creche, playground, kitchen and more.

Calling All Young Artists

Entires are now open for the 2018 Young Artist Awards - Kalamunda.

Open to local youth (10 to 25 years old), the competition is aimed at showcasing and celebrating emerging young artists through a professional exhibition at the Zig Zag Gallery in Kalamunda.

The theme for this year is "Illuminate - Djoondal Djoomba". Djoondal Djoomba was inspired by the 'Carers of Everything' Nyoongar Dreamtime story of country, which is about the star woman and spirits coming from darkness to light.

The competition will be judged by a panel of three professionals, including a representation from the City of Kalamunda’s Arts Advisory Committee. Entries close 3 August 2018.
