Summer Reading Challenge Celebrations

It's that time of year again! Get ready for an exciting summer packed with fun, games, reading and lots more! The Summer Reading Challenge aims to help get children into libraries to boost their reading skills and confidence. We will be kicking off the launch of this year's challenge in Ken Aston Square on Saturday 14 July. There will be a host of activities including superhero biscuit making, a treasure hunt and an interactive show about Mischievous Max!

The annual fair is back! This year we're bringing the circus to you, with great performances throughout the day from Big Top Mania. Or if you're looking to get active why not join in our cardboard boat race? Whether it's sports, entertainment or food you enjoy, we've got it all! Don't miss this fun family day out on Saturday 7 July.

Build It Exhibition

Redbridge Museum's summer exhibition explores the wonderful world of buildings! Get active in the building site and drive diggers, lay walls, build bridges and balance the tallest tower block. Don't stop there, bring the kids along to enjoy our drop in make and take activities from building a fort to designing a whole town! Or you can book onto one of our exhibition-themed summer events. Opens on Thursday 19 July.

Summer holidays at Valentines Mansion

 
We have an exciting range of summer events at Valentines Mansion that will leave little minds buzzing with excitement. On Sunday 22 July enjoy a fun-filled day of crafts and activities with a chance to meet our very own Valentines Mansion bear at the Teddy Bears Picnic. On Monday 23 July discover the creatures living under the sea!

Our Community Festival

Come along and join the fun at this annual festival on Sunday 15 July. There will be fantastic entertainment from a range of performers including D-Style Dance, Turbelles Performing Arts School, Karan's Bollywood Masterclass and lots more. There will also be a soft play bus and face painting for the kids to enjoy!

Love Parks Week

Friday 13 to Friday 20 July marks the 12th anniversary of Love Parks Week! There are some great things to do in Redbridge parks including our walking for health, nordic walking, exploring the great outdoors, and a community festival. Take advantage of the good weather and pack a picnic to enjoy with the kids for a fun time outdoors.

Dragonfly workshop and survey training

Want to learn more about dragonflies? Come along to this workshop where you will spend the morning learning and identifying dragonflies and then have a chance to walk across the stretch of River Roding in the afternoon. The workshop takes place on Tuesday 24 July from 10am, please email to book. Further information including the meeting point will be sent to you.

Calling all little explorers! Why not enjoy the outdoors with one of our rangers this summer. You'll get to learn about the wildlife living on your doorstep in three of Redbridge’s beautiful parks!

Tennis in the park

Want to learn how to play tennis but not sure if it's the right sport for you? Come along to Clayhall Park on Saturday 21 July for a free opportunity to try out the game and speak with our qualified coaches! If you find yourself loving the sport then why not join our five week course for just a tenner from Saturday 28 July to Friday 24 August.

Redbridge Playday

In Redbridge we are celebrating National Playday on Wednesday 1 August. The day highlights the importance of play in children's lives and encourages it! Children will be able to enjoy a range of fun activities in various venues around the borough. The activities are all free and no booking is required - just turn up and play so save the date!
