Wow! What a fun trip back to Lisbon, Portugal! We enjoyed catching up with friends and celebrating like locals. Now we are in Bucharest, Romania where we have been taking it easy the last couple of days as I attempt to get my voice back to normal. Don’t worry, having a clinical pharmacist for a wife has its privileges.
On our connection flight from Madrid to Bucharest, I sat next to a gentleman that has traveled to 122 countries. Can you imagine that? Unreal.
We are excited about this next chapter of travel to Eastern Europe. We have been talking about it for a while and to finally be here is thrilling. Romania and Poland are places we have wanted to visit for quite some time.
We hope all of the Dads had a great weekend celebrating Father’s Day. Nikki and I are so blessed to have two wonderful fathers who have been incredibly supportive during the entire process of our world adventures.
It was a wild experience to be sitting in our Lisbon apartment flipping through the TV stations when a CNN Africa special popped up with professional surfer Bianca Buitendag. We ‘worked’ in her Bed & Breakfast when we stayed in Victoria Bay, South Africa for a month in February. It was surprising to see her on our screen in Portugal.
In this week’s podcast episode we talk about visiting Lisbon, Portugal for the second year in a row and how it brought us memories for a lifetime. Lisbon is a romantic city that comes alive in June with many festivities. From Bica to Alfama to Bairro Alto - we cover the neighborhoods that we love and the hottest spots in each. I talk about one of my favorite travel stories of selling Jello Shots during the St. Anthony’s Day party on the streets of Bica.
We then discuss the epic viewpoints, fun local markets, listening to local Fado music, and getting around on foot. We also discuss short day trips from Lisbon that are exciting destinations. We wrap up this podcast episode by discussing the idea of sharing tables at restaurants when you are traveling. It can be a great way to meet new people.
Alright, time for a little bit more rest before we attempt to see what Romania has to offer.
