Git er done

There's a lot going on in my shop right now. I've been working on two projects that will both be going into Everything But Now, a four person exhibition that opens July 13th in Loveland, CO. The photo above, shows the basic parts of these projects from a couple weeks ago. The photo below, shows what my shop looks like today. More progress. More mess.

One of the pieces I'm making is a console table that has insect-like legs. I've been wanting to make a piece of furniture with legs like this since I made the Reliquary for the Future, two years ago. I am in love with the crouched stance these legs have. And I look forward to exploring more versions of them in future projects.

The photo above, shows the beginnings of the drawer fronts for this console table. Those are stacks of plywood endgrain tiles I've made, waiting to be affixed to the backer boards in a striped grid. Some of my handwoven fabric will be included in there, too. The adornment on the drawer fronts will be similar to the Monarch Hall Table.

The colors that will be going into this table are shown above. These are my dyed wood samples on top of my hand dyed handwoven fabric. Pink, yellow, and gray wood? Ooh la la!
