WHAT'S HAPPENING AT EvFREE – JUNE 21, 2018

A NOTE FROM OUR PASTORS

Greetings EvFree Family,

Woo Hoo! VBS is almost here! O.K. so I have to be honest, it is only in the past couple of years that I have gained a true appreciation for VBS. Being part of the planning and execution of VBS, I have seen God working in more ways than I could have possibly imagined. In ways big and small, expected and unexpected, over and over God’s handiwork is so evident. It’s in the hundreds of volunteers of all ages, who show up and spend their week loving on these kids and using their God-given gifts in so many unique ways. It’s in the songs that get stuck in your head and your heart. In the games that make the kids laugh, but also show them that God is a God of fun, and laughter is one of His greatest gifts to us. In the student who breaks away from the group to run over and give a grandparent guide a quick hug. It’s in those times around a snack when people connect with people.

Some of my favorite moments are when these sweet ones hear Jesus inviting them to a life with Him and they respond with unadulterated joy and excitement!

To say that it is a life-changing experience is an understatement! Yes it is a lot of work, yes we need a ton of volunteers, but every year God reminds me that if we keep our eyes on Him and build the rest around that, He will give us exactly what we need! I can’t wait to see what our King is going to do with our knights in training this year and I would love for all of you to come, watch God work and be a part of these Kingdom Chronicles.

Looking forward to hanging out together!

Library Used Book Sale

This is the final Sunday for the Used Book Sale in the library. You are welcome to take as many books as you like in exchange for any size donation, which helps the library purchase new materials. OC United provides housing, resources, and relational support to former-foster and at-risk youth in Orange County. Join us in providing resource-based and relational support for these young adults.

SHORT TERM MISSIONS

L'viv High School

The L’viv high school team with 30 students and 8 leaders is leaving on June 26 to run a camp for Ukrainian students and lead an English camp and an art camp. They will have several opportunities to engage in spiritual conversations about the gospel. Pray that many Ukrainian students will attend and respond positively to the gospel message.

Brussels

When you hear the name Brussels, what comes to mind? Chocolates? Waffles? The EU and NATO? Although it is all of these things, Brussels is so much more. With people from over 180 nations, including many refugees in this city of 1.2 million, Brussels is very diverse. It is also very dark spiritually – only 0.5% identify themselves as Evangelical Christians.

Nevertheless, God has not abandoned Brussels. He has raised up devoted and faithful Belgian workers to share the Good News in creative ways, that He might bring the lost to Himself. This we have witnessed firsthand, as we have worked alongside EvFree missionaries Joel and Dennise Smith over the past several summers.

Through VBS in a public park, a flyer distribution for classes offered throughout the year, or light construction in a community church and refugee house the gospel is indeed making an impact.

The Brussels team will meet up with several other short term teams from the US in Belgium on June 26 to minister alongside Joel, Dennise and others. Pray for stamina, servant hearts and boldness in declaring the gospel.
