Summer Solstice
This is the season of long days filled with light. I savor it. Activity is everywhere present. Mornings offer a long embrace of promise for each new day. Evenings allow us to slowly unwind and enjoy the sun as it takes its time falling into the horizon.
Summer’s rhythm is unique. When we tune into this rhythm our bodies sync up with the longer pace. Our activities balance out by blending being with doing. Our senses enjoy the foods and flavors of the season along with the aromas of summer’s flowers; roses, honeysuckle, jasmine, and lavender.
The Summer Solstice marks the longest day of our year and also begins the quiet retreat of light as the days become shorter, minute by minute. It is a holy day for Shamans, filled with prayers, renewed intentions, dialoging with Spirit, connecting with the earth and stars, and also for releasing that which no longer serves us. It’s time to dream a new sacred dream. Using the light as arrows our sacred dream is carried forward on its way to being birthed.
We plant our dream seeds and watch then grow and take root. We do our part by taking inspired action and holding our dreams sacred. We do this by protecting them from naysayers, keeping them close to our hearts, and nurturing them with attention and love.
The fruit of our labor bares strong results when we focus, act and believe.
Let us demonstrate our belief and unity with the Divine. Let us walk in beauty, live in beauty, create beauty, and honor the beauty that's all around us. Summertime makes this easy.
The summer season flies by as we mark time one holiday after another. Soon school preparation begins and workloads intensify. Outdoor activities shift and the light of day evens with darkness. Still, the light lives on around us as we carry the torch of the Divine within us and shine on ever so brightly.
