Dear friends and partners,
I’m sure many of you have had the same nauseous reaction to the news we’re hearing from our border over the last week: this is America? Even with yesterday’s Executive Order ending the atrocious policies that tore families apart, more than 2,300 children remain indefinitely separated from their parents. This is heart-wrenching, immoral, and just plain wrong.
Putting kids first means keeping families together. Please join me and countless others on Saturday from 10-12 at the Federal Building in Westwood as we demand the reunification of these families and fair treatment for all who seek refuge in the promise of the American dream. We’ll also be collecting toys to bring to these children as they wait, scared and alone, for justice.
As Nelson Mandela reminded us years ago, “There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way it treats its children” We are better than this.
I hope you can join us and add your voice to the growing call to reunite these families. If you can’t make it to Saturday’s event, please check out the links below to see how you can still support this cause.
See you Saturday,
Nick
