Have you marked your calendar for the next WeSNiP ReSale yet?

Get ready for three days of incredible shopping experiences! The dates are: Friday, July 6th, Saturday, July 7th and Sunday, July 8th. For those shoppers who are new to the WeSNiP ReSale, welcome! You have discovered (or will soon) that the WeSNiP ReSales have something for everyone!

The WeSNiP ReSale is known for offering high-quality items at family friendly prices. Each sale is different. Each sale is fun. And the very best part about the WeSNiP ReSale is that all profits benefit accessible and affordable spay and neuter for cats and dogs in our community! WeSNiP has “fixed” over 18,517 cats and dogs in Whatcom County in the past ten years, and we wouldn’t have been able to reach this milestone without support from our dedicated shoppers.

Thanks to our incredibly talented and creative volunteer team, we have put together a well-organized fundraising event. The ReSale sections include: Decor, Kitchen, Linens, Man Cave, Clothing, Kids, Sports & Fitness, Lamps & Furniture, Garden, Jewelry, Books/CDs/DVDs, and lots of vintage items sprinkled everywhere in between!

WeSNiP volunteers continually work to curate, clean and organize the very best items that are donated to our organization to get them "floor ready". You may have noticed a name change for the sale as well. After several suggestions and a lot of deliberation, the Leadership Team voted to call it the WeSNiP ReSale. They decided that the word “ReSale” best fit this event as it is not a thrift store (with weekly store hours) nor is it a garage sale any longer (new commercial location). So, the WeSNiP ReSale it is!

Not convinced yet? Here are our Top 10 reasons why we/you will love to shop at the WeSNiP Resale:

10. The WeSNiP ReSale has a constantly changing selection.
Because WeSNiP has an ongoing partnership with Labels Consignment stores, we receive weekly donations from their household department of items that were either deemed not consignment worthy or did not sell and their time on the floor was up! Thank you, Labels consignors who spoke up and said that they want their items to be donated to charity. WeSNiP is that charity and we love it! Plus, WeSNiP has a growing base of donors from the public who choose WeSNiP to donate their quality household items to! With this variety of donors, you can expect to see completely different products at each ReSale.

9. Each ReSale is like a trip down memory lane.
Remember when your neighbor growing up had that picture in their living room, or when Care Bears were all the rage? When you shop the WeSNiP ReSale, you’ll find all kinds of pop culture mementos to bring back fond memories.

8. Shopping at the ReSale is like going on a (slightly competitive) treasure hunt.
If you are bored shopping for household décor or clothes at the newly remodeled box store in town, you may be a natural ReSale shopper. Shopping secondhand lets you dig through the racks for your own personal treasures, and a little friendly competition with other serious shoppers adds to the excitement.

7. The WeSNiP ReSale lets you explore diverse styles.
You may not like every item of clothing or piece of furniture you find at the ReSale, but you can at least have fun looking at ostentatious, retro, or just plain bizarre merchandise.

6. You can find genuine vintage items.
Fashion is cyclical, and designers often try to mimic the looks of different decades. When you shop at the WeSNiP ReSale, you can often find items that were made in the decade that’s coming back into style today.

5. You can furnish your home on a tight budget.
When you first graduate from college or move out of your parents’ home, you may not have a huge budget to buy all the basic household needs like kitchenware and small appliances. The WeSNiP ReSale offers a wide selection of items with steep discounts from new, retail pricing, allowing you to outfit your home and not break your budget.

4. You can find unique gifts.
If you have friends or family members who appreciate unique, quirky finds, you can roam each ReSale in search of a great birthday, holiday or white elephant gift.

3. The WeSNiP ReSale is great for intergenerational shopping trips.
Your parents might not be too enthused about being dragged into the highly fragrant clothing store at the mall, and your kids might not want to go on that furniture shopping trip to IKEA, but when you come to the WeSNiP ReSale, there’s something for every generation.

2. The WeSNiP ReSale shopping is environmentally friendly.
Shopping at the ReSale is a great way to recycle. You can donate quality household and clothing items every Saturday (except sale weekends) in the alleyway between the hours of 10am-2 pm. Please visit our website at www.wesnip.org for additional donation details and directions.
And the #1 reason why we absolutely love to shop at the WeSNiP ReSale is:

1. Your purchases fund WeSNiP’s mission!
All the proceeds from every WeSNiP ReSale go to support our mission to make spay and neuter for cats and dogs accessible and affordable in our community. WeSNiP is a by-donation program for qualified clients. Since 2008, WeSNiP has been “fixing” pet overpopulation in Whatcom County. Your purchases at the WeSNiP ReSale make you a part of the spay/neuter solution that is ending the use of euthanasia to control pet overpopulation. Thank you!

SNiP of the Month!

Queen of the Thicket!

At WeSNiP we commonly say (and see) that cats tend to find the people that will help them. And this rings true for the cat pictured. This little gal started showing up on someone’s property a few months ago. The person living on the property is severely allergic to cats, thus never really considered herself a cat person.

But that didn’t stop this cat from showing up on her property The cat was small, so they couldn’t help but start feeding her. Even though the cat wouldn’t come too close to people, she started hanging around a lot more, including regularly playing with moths on the rooftop at nighttime, and hanging out in the chicken coop. The caretaker was worried about kittens being born on the property, so she called WeSNiP for help.

They came and picked up a humane trap to start feeding in, which the cat took to quite well, even lounging in and on the trap during the day. She eluded being trapped a couple weeks ago, but she was successfully trapped last week and WeSNiP brought her down to The NOAH Center to be spayed, ear tipped, and she received a Rabies vaccination last Thursday! And to the pleasure of her caretaker and WeSNiP, she was not nursing, so she was spayed before any unplanned litters!
