Dear Parents and Carers

Summer Fair: July 2nd
Please note, time is now 1:45 to 2:45. Parents can, if attending, take their children home at the completion of the event.
Key stage three has been very delighted to run the Vocational Education sessions once again throughout this year.
The focus for the sessions were Job Based Models, Community Interaction and Enterprises. The students took part in these lessons based on their skills and understanding.
As a part of the Enterprise Model, the students will hold a summer fair on 2nd July between 1:45 to 2:45 pm. They would like to invite key stage four and sixth form students as well as all parents on the 2nd of July.
It will be a great opportunity for parents to interact with the school community and to encourage children who have worked hard on setting up their stalls by using skills such as making decisions about the choice of business, making products, and understanding about profit and loss, persistence, advertising and the art of selling.
Please be there to encourage the students, However if you are unable to attend the fair then please feel free to send some money with your child to make any purchases (£5 maximum).
The money collected from previous years was equally distributed amongst the student groups for class parties, donations to Guide Dog's Trust and the Salvation Army and the remaining stayed within the budget for Vocational Education.
We would like you to join us for this celebration of our student achievement.

Parent/carers will receive a medical form this week, please ensure you fill this in and return to school ASAP

Brent Carer Forum Information

Attendance
At Woodfield School we strive for the success of each individual pupil and in order to achieve this we require support from parent/carers to ensure that their child attends school and is punctual. If your child is absent due to illness please try to notify the office by 9am. In the case of medical appointments please provide the office with an appointment letter/card wherever possible.

Car Parking
Polite reminder to all parents that the school car park is reserved for staff, transport busses and authorised visitors only. Due to the lack of space and the amount of transport buses entering and leaving the school, it causes a build-up of unnecessary traffic and is unsafe for our pupils, especially those travelling independently. There are two roads available besides the school on which parents can park and then walk the pupil into the school.

Warm Weather / Uniform
As the weather is getting warmer please make sure you label your child’s school jumpers. When it is hot, jumpers get left all over the school and without a name on the label it is impossible to find the owner. Pupils may also bring a water bottle to school and carry it to lessons. They can fill it up from the water fountains at break and lunchtime. Please do all you can to get your child organised. Please check that school uniform, pencil case and PE kit are all in place. Remember we do not allow logos- just plain black trousers, shoes, jumpers and a white polo shirt. Full details of uniform policy are available on our website.

Hay Fever
A message to remind all parents and carers that the school is surrounded by grass and it is the season for high pollen, if you could administrator your child with hay fever relief if required please. Click here for NHS guidance on Hay Fever

Makaton
Makaton is a language programme that is used in conjunction with speech to aid the pupils’ understanding of language and help them communicate with each other more effectively. Makaton is used across the school in lessons and break times. We would love for you to learn some signs so that you can sign with your child. See the We Talk Makaton website for more.

This week's Makaton "Sign of the Week"

Have a great weekend
