JUNE 2018

Dear <<First Name>>,

We have been dealing with some conflict in our French speaking church in Geneva, Switzerland. Our most gifted, faithful, qualified elders have been voted out by a minority of discontented people who showed up on the day of the church vote. The majority, who have been edified and blessed by these elders, voted three men into leadership in order to help transition the church during this time. Despite the conflict, our former elders are still able to serve in a maximum capacity. The new leaders have asked them to continue serving because of their faithful teaching and godly character, which had an incredible impact for Christ in the past years on our congregation.

The new leaders have also asked me to join them as they meet with some members who are in opposition to our church. As we meet, we listen and document their complaints against our former elders. It is evident that these disgruntled people have no facts, no truth, nor biblical substance to support their false accusations. We expose lies and false doctrine while lovingly and firmly confronting them with truth. Please pray, as our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of darkness in the heavenly realm.
Since October I have been teaching through the book of 1st Timothy with our home Bible study. It has been a joy to host this study and watch the believers grow in their knowledge of the Lord. Please pray for the salvation a new family that has started coming. Additionally, I began teaching a Fundamentals of the Faith theology class with my missionary colleague John Glass on Sunday mornings at church (see photo).
It is so encouraging to be more involved in teaching in French. I still need to improve and after much prayer regarding a need for a tutor, the Lord provided an excellent one. Anne-Marie was a former Catholic nun who came to Christ through reading the Bible many years ago. She studied Arabic in the past and is filled with knowledge regarding ministering to Muslim, Catholics and others in need of Christ. Our discussions in French are very interesting and benefit us all with her precise language skills.
There is a great need for good Bible teachers here in Europe. John Glass recommended me to his friend, who is a director at the United Nations, to teach at the Geneva Bible School (GBS). The group consisted primarily of UN workers from all over the world. It was refreshing to teach in English to those who were hungry and they asked great questions regarding the application of Scripture. They have asked me to continue teaching in the future. Please pray for wisdom in these decisions. There are so many good opportunities in ministry, but we need God’s wisdom to maintain balance and invest in what is best for His kingdom – especially in fulfilling the great commission to French speakers in France and Switzerland. The harvest is plenty, but the laborers are few.
Thank you for your continued prayers, support, love and encouragement. We love and miss each of you.

Love in Christ,
James, Julia, Elijah, William & Wesley
