IN THE NEWS:

*Just in time for Pride, CNN put out a list on how to be an effective ally to the LGBTQ community. It's a smart, short article that reminds people how to show support to their LGBTQ friends, relatives, and coworkers.

*The news stories surrounding our border have been heartbreaking. With that in mind, we'd like to share Lambda Legal's resource list for LGBTQ immigrants. 

FILM UPDATES:

*We're excited to announce that Mama Bears has received a grant for $10,000 from Firelight Media through their Next Steps Fund. Daresha received an eighteen-month fellowship from Firelight's Documentary Film Lab that ended in April. We couldn't be happier they're continuing to support and believe in our work!

 

CREW UPDATES:

 *Daresha started June with a bang! She attended the Southern Documentary Fund's 5th annual artist convening in Durham, NC, where she was pushed and inspired by others in the doc field. It was a truly amazing event!



 *Daresha was also hired to shoot a series of mini documentaries for a wonderful nonprofit called Family Independence Initiative, whose mission is to help families escape poverty by empowering, trusting, and investing in them. She'll be traveling to six cities to shoot with them next month and may be in a city near you! (Detroit, ABQ, SF/Oakland, Cincinnati, Boston, and NoLa, to be exact)
