JUNE 2018

Preceptor Tax Credit

Thank you Governor Ige and Hawai'i Legislators for enacting SB 2298 into law as Act 43. We now have preceptor tax credits for APRNs, MDs, DOs, and PharmDs starting in 2019! This will help us build a workforce that ensures access to primary care across the state.  HSCN will be working with the Department of Health, Department of Taxation, UH JABSOM  Hawai'i/Pacific Basin Area Health Education Center and all of our eligible schools on this inititiative. HSCN will keep you apprised of the FAQs and more information as it becomes available.

2018 Culture of Health Summit

The Hawai'i State Center for Nursing hosted the 2018 Culture of Health Summit on June 1st.  This event highlighted programs across the state that align with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Culture of Health Initiative.

We were honored to have Susan Hassmiller, PhD, RN, FAAN, Senior Adviser for Nursing, RWJF, provide the keynote address.  She was vital to the development of the Institute of Medicine’s Future of Nursing Report and currently directs the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action.  The Hawai‘i Action Coalition was formed in response to the Campaign for Action and ensures that Hawai‘i aligns with national efforts.

Mahalo nui loa to everyone who attended our 2018 Culture of Health Summit!

Annual Nurse Residency Program National Conference

Program coordinators, nurse educators, and nurse residents from across the country attended to share program successes, innovative ideas, and the results of evidence-based practice projects.  Congratulations to Hawai'i Nurse Residence Program Collaborative Resident, Kristen Waialae from Adventist Health Castle Medical Center, for your abstract presentation at this national conference.
