Name change for Local Government Inspectorate

As of 3 May 2018, the Local Government Investigations and Compliance Inspectorate has formally changed and simplified its title to the Local Government Inspectorate.

The integrity agency for local government in Victoria, the Local Government Inspectorate investigates offences under the Local Government Act 1989 and plays an integral role in monitoring governance in Victorian councils.

The Inspectorate is often in contact with local government communications and governance staff across the state, where possible, regarding current investigations at those councils or in relation to potential media interest over completed investigations. General feedback has been positive regarding these interactions, however we will be seeking more detailed feedback in the coming months on the methods of communication.
