2018-19 Board of Directors
We're sorry to see Aimee Grice and Patrick Turner take a break from the board this year, but it did make room for some new faces and we are very excited to see what this new board will bring to the table. With Aimee leaving we needed to bring in a new secretary. Jackie Brockholm generously volunteered to step up and take on this critical executive role. All four executive positions were won by acclamation, leaving two seats open for directors at large.
It was gratifying to see six members offer their services to the board for directors, and gut wrenching to have to vote for three positions. Jeff Smith was re-elected as Director, and two newcomers, Denny Kaulback and Andrea Gunlaugson Furlan were elected to serve. Not really newcomers at all, Denny and Andrea have been seen skulking around the stage making themselves useful for many months now. Andrea has a background in dance and knows the stage like nobody's business. She has already acted, stage managed, and produced for the club. Denny has a resume as long as Santa's Naughty List, including acting, directing, set building, and past president of Revelstoke Theatre Company just to start.
The final results of elections are:
- President Nathan Linders
- Vice President Diane Gludovatz
- Treasurer Jen Jensen
- Secretary Jackie Brockholm
- Director Jeff Smith
- Director Andrea Gunlaugson Furlan
- Director Denny Kaulback
We look forward to collaborating on improving this excellent club, and we sincerely appreciate the enthusiastic offers by several other members to step up for the board. We are excited and encouraged seeing our numbers grow and interest blossom in the organization.
Special Resolution Passed
As we work diligently to plan seasons in advance we began to realize that we were, in effect, commiting future boards to decisions made by the current board. This led us to start thinking about changing term lengths. The idea was tabled that we should consider two year terms. This will ensure that season plans are much more likely to be executed by board members that approved those plans. Further, the board proposed that we transition to two year terms by electing half of the board to one year terms this year, which positions will be up for election this year. By alternating these vacancies we can further mitigate the risk of a 'clean sweep' of the board in any given year. The resolution, which required a two thirds majority, was passed unanimously by those in attendance. Watch for news in our next newsletter as the board's first order of business will be to determine which positions will be up for re-election next year. Thereafter all positions will be for two year terms.
