Dear RAGFP Members and Friends,
We at the Rotarian Action Group for Peace (RAGFP) have been working feverishly this year to plan strategy and infrastructure for a major Rotary peace initiative. Now we’re ready to launch and need your help!

The basic action units for the initiative are Peacebuilder Clubs. I’ve attached a brief description of the purpose and function of Peacebuilder Clubs. I hope you’ll read it as soon as possible and spring into action to:
  • make your club a Peacebuilder Club,
  • be a catalyst in getting as many clubs as possible in your district to be Peacebuilder Clubs and to tie them all into a District Peacebuilding Committee, and
  • encourage your Rotary friends around the world to do the same.
Ideas to stimulate action plans in local Peacebuilder Clubs are contained in the attached Your Piece of Peace – A Peacebuilding Primer for Rotarians. I hope you’ll also review that as soon as is reasonably convenient. The Primer is critical to the overall plan.

RAGFP’s charge from Rotary International is to provide assistance and support to Rotary clubs, districts, and multi-districts in planning and implementing large-scale conflict prevention/resolution and peacebuilding projects. Creating a global network of Peacebuilder Clubs provides the infrastructure to do that more powerfully. We’ll coordinate it all by Rotary zone through the RAGFP Global Council – with each RI zone having one member on the Council. Former RI Director Ken Boyd has recently been elected to the RAGFP Board and is Chair of the Global Council. We’ll be sending you more information about the Global Council in the next couple of months but have attached a brief description of it to help you catch the vision now.

Peace is possible. In behalf of the RAGFP Board, we’re very grateful for your RAGFP membership and support and look forward to jointly combining our passion and strength with yours and with Rotarians around the world in working together to powerfully impact the great cause of peace.

Warmest Rotarian Regards,

Brian Farr, Chair, Rotarian Action Group for Peace

Hope to see you soon in Toronto!
