Thanks to everyone who came out to the Spring Fair!
And many thanks to all our wonderful volunteer parents!
Check out some of the amazing artwork
created by our students at the VAC table!

Apologies to those who waited a long time for food at the food trucks;
we'll look to improve this next year!

Don't forget to pick up your cupcake containers from outside the office!

The spring fair might have been soggy outside, but the creativity was on fire in the gym last Friday! Students, family, and friends were welcome to make mixed media Artist Trading Cards (ATC). The movement was started in 1997 by Swiss artist M.Vanci Stirnemann as a conceptual art project. The criteria for the cards are exact dimensions - 2.5 x 3.5 inches (the same format as modern trading cards), they must be self-made and unique works of art. The cards are to be traded and collected by the people who participate in creating them.

I was wowed by the students and their imagination using stamps, coloured pencils, paper fragments, washi tape, and small embellishments to decorate their cards. Hopefully we can reprise the ATC station at next year’s Make Sale!

The VAC is looking for interested volunteers to join the committee. We need help to continue the planning and organizing of the annual Make Sale as well as the amazing opportunities with artists from the community for all students of EMJS.

How does Emergency Snack Day on Wednesday June 20th work?

Please send some spare change with your child to buy granola bars (25 cents) or bottled water ($1) from our emergency “comfort food” so that we can replace this in September. The comfort food is purchased by PAC for every room in the school where kids might find themselves for an extended period of time (e.g. during a lockdown) or for an earthquake or other situation in the event that parents can’t pick their kids up right away. The School District does not pay for emergency supplies but thanks to the efficient system we have set up, we should be able to perpetually restock our school’s supplies every year from the money raised by selling the perishable items each June.  Interested in joining the team?  It is so organized there is not a lot to do except for a flurry of activity in September and June. Contact emjspacinfo@gmail.com and you can make a significant difference in bringing peace of mind to what could one day be a stressful situation.
Is your marriage worth it? Yes! Learn more on Tuesday!

This Tuesday, June 19th @ 7pm, Petra and Gary (EMJS parents) are going to share how they came upon the decision to make their marriage  worth it, what they did to get out of the rut of feeling empty and distant in their marriage, and the realization that changed everything for them and took them to a richer level of love and connection.

Come on out to this illuminating conversation which is sure to shed new light on your marriage!  Anyone that shows up is admitting that no one’s marriage is perfect and that you are interested in growing and enriching your life with your partner. You will best benefit by showing up together! Mark your calendar now, your kids will thank you for it.

It's harvest time!
Mme Frketich and Mme McKay’s classes harvested kale, lettuce and radishes from the garden boxes this week and the students enjoyed tasting the produce that they planted and cared for over the last couple of months. Next week, Mme Freiberger’s class will harvest the lettuce and potatoes they planted in the new garden boxes. It looks like they have a bumper crop! Thanks again to all the parents and students who helped prepare the boxes for use by these classes this year. If anyone is interested in helping out with the school garden next year, please contact Heather at heather002@gmail.com
