For 26 days we asked you and the public to tell us your alphabet of Ballarat businesses via our Facebook page. We had over 800 entries and a great variety of businesses were recognised for the work they do. Each entrant went in the draw to win a $500 voucher from a Commerce Ballarat member of their choice. And the winner is Amanda Lee!

MINIMUM WAGE TO RISE 3.5% - ARE YOU PAYING ENOUGH?

The biggest minimum wage rise since 2010 will see a 3.5% increase in the National Minimum Wage and modern award rates from 1 July 2018. The Fair Work Commission points to ‘healthy national economy and labour market’ in making decision to raise minimum wage to $719.20 a week. With a 6.8% increase in last 12 months (including the 2017 increase), the question is, are you paying your employees enough? Read full blog post here

“The adventures of a baker, his best mate, a 1930 A Model Ford travelling 7443 km’s across Australia to raise money for Cancer”  Join the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute for the WORLD PREMIERE of the documentary about the trip. See the thrills and spills of Tom O'Toole, the founder of the famous Beechworth Bakery chain and Keith's adventure in the 1930 A Model Ford. The popular pop-up ice skating rink will start taking shape in the CBD as the countdown to Ballarat Winter Festival begins. The pop-up ice skating rink will open on 30 June for a two week period over the school holidays, with the final day being 15 July. Eight one-hour sessions will be held daily tickets are now on sale from $8 child, $15 adult and $30 family (two adults and two children).
