Hi Moms and Dads

We hope that you all had a good weekend and all our fabulous Fathers were celebrated and spoilt!!!!

Dear Daddy
In all the things I try to do,
I want to do them just like you.
I’m watching every move you make,
And trying to take each step you take.

Although right now I’m sort of small,
When I’m with you, I feel 10 feet tall.
Like you, I want to be brave and smart.
‘Cause I love you daddy with all my heart.

When I am older I will be so glad,
If I grow up to be…..
JUST LIKE DAD!!!!

This is the last week of Term 2. We break up on Friday, normal time and we would like to wish you all a wonderful holiday and thank you all for all your support over the term.
Friday is also Dad’s Day so we hope to see all our dads for the morning. We have a raffle for a Dad’s hamper of goodies. R10 per ticket. Raffle sheets will be up outside the children’s classrooms.
As always we will have holiday care here at school for all our children.
Please note:
* those children who normally stay full or half day continue with holiday care at no extra charge.
* we offer holiday care for all the other children at a daily rate of:

                                                                                                                * R100 full day 8am-6pm
Holiday Activities will be on the notice board during this week.
Please note that we have a case of ‘PINK EYE’ in the school. This is a contagious illness so please keep your child at home if they have it, until they have had medicine and it clears.

OVERARCHING CONCEPT

Our Overarching Concept is COMMUNICATION.
WE NEED TO COMMUNICATE AND LEARN HOW TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY, OPENLY AND HONESTLY, WITHOUT REGRET BUT ALSO WITHOUT HURTFULNESS.
This term we will be looking at how we communicate with each other, you as parents and of course with the children. We will be encouraging and teaching the children to communicate effectively and sharing with them the importance of communication with others. Being honest and respectful in your communication and also communicating in times of conflict to find suitable solutions.

Thank you for collecting your child's report. If you have not collected it please arrange a time to meet me and collect it before the holidays on Friday 22 June.
The children are looking forward to Friday 22 June - Dad's Day. All dads are invited to come to school between 8 and 11 pm. Dad's bring their own boerewors or sausages to braai. It is always a special day and the dads have a good time braaing and meeting new father's in the school. Please try and organise to be at school for at least an hour to spend some time with your child. They have been very busy drawing pictures and making you a surprise.
This term has passed by so quickly and the children have enjoyed the various themes. Our last theme will be The Seasons and weather. We will compare the similarities and differences between the 4 seasons and discuss the weather during the various seasons. We will look at changes in our earth, in animals, sports and what people do and wear in each seasons.
In maths we will continue to concentrate on direction and left and right. Please try and make your children aware of their left and right side and play games with them or sing songs using the left/right side of the body. Most children are wearing closed shoes with laces but they are still struggling to tie them. Please try help them to learn this important skill as in Grade 1 they will be expected to tie their shoes without assistance. Those that can do it are so proud and eagerly help their friends. It is a skill that makes children feel so grown up and independent so help them to learn to do it.
Skills to practise at home and during the holidays An awareness of Left and Right. Months of the year, days of the week, date of birth. Name writing, tying a shoe lace, identifying numbers and letters in the environment. Listening skills activities like the shopping game. Rhyming games.
Dates to diarise:
Fri 22 June Dad's Day School Closes.
Thank you for your support this term.
We wish you all a wonderful holiday.

Hello!
Hope you all had a great weekend.
Last week of term!! Time sure flies when you're having fun.
We will be discussing the theme Transport this week.
Please encourage children to bring items pertaining to the theme for the theme table.
The weather is changing and we are approaching winter. Please try and encourage children to wear shoes and warm tops.
We will continue with our water donations. So whenever you're ready you may send in some water. Thank you to those who have been sending water.
Please encourage children to walk into school instead of being carried and to unpack their own bags. Label items as far as possible.
Please make sure that your child has some spare clothes in their bags. Most of them are fine with going to the toilet but sometimes accidents do happen.
Morning Ring begins at 8:30. Please if you are late I understand but a quiet drop and go will then be expected.
On Friday the 22nd will be the dad’s sausage braai. Dads are invited to come and spend the morning with us. It will also be the last day of school.
Please check your pockets daily as well as our notice board.
House visits will continue after June. Thanks.
Thank you for all of your love and support!
Have a great week.
